There does not exist THE best free antivirus program. Personally, I prefer a third party product. Plenty of free options including Windows 10 Defender built in. Just depends on what you goal is in protecting your device. There are plenty of reviews out there if you do a search rating how effective they are and what features they offer. Almost any free option is going to lack certain features because those developers would like to sell you their paid version.
